April Resource of the Month

This quarter, we’re exploring how art and play support human flourishing and expand how we think about wellbeing at work.

Our April Resource of the Month highlights a growing, evidence-based approach that integrates creativity directly into health and community care.

We’re especially excited to feature this resource as we prepare to host Dr. Tasha Golden, a lead author of the guide, at our upcoming Educational Intensive on April 16, 2026.

This comprehensive field guide introduces “arts on prescription,” an emerging model that connects individuals to arts, culture, and nature-based experiences as part of health and social care. Grounded in a growing body of research, the guide demonstrates how creative engagement can reduce loneliness, anxiety, and depression while also improving cognitive function, social connection, and overall wellbeing.

Importantly, the guide challenges traditional approaches to health by emphasizing that wellbeing is not simply the absence of disease. Instead, it highlights the role of creative expression, environment, and connection in helping individuals and communities thrive .

It also provides a practical framework for communities and organizations to build partnerships between healthcare systems and local arts, culture, and nature resources. By recognizing these experiences as essential contributors to health, this model expands how we design systems that support whole-person wellbeing .

Why We Love It

This resource brings together science, strategy, and real-world application in a way that feels both grounded and actionable. It reinforces that creativity is a meaningful, evidence-based pathway to supporting wellbeing, connection, and human flourishing.
